Zarafa, the leading European provider of open source groupware and collaboration software, has launched Z-Admin 1.0 [1]. This web based administration interface enables administrators to install and maintain a groupware server, powered by Zarafa, without the need for knowledge of Linux or the command line. Easy deployment of the interface also empowers Windows administrators to benefit from open source groupware. The user-friendly interface is available for Ubuntu 10.04LTS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5. Z-Admin includes all basic functionality to keep a system running, e.g. mail server management and configuration, system/network configuration, health and status monitoring and user management. The administration interface can also be integrated in existing Windows networks and coupled with Microsoft Active Directory user management. Since the software is also available as a virtual appliance [2], it can be easily deployed on private clouds. Z-Admin is based on the Yaffas framework that has been released as open source software by bitbone AG and is currently being developed in cooperation with the community. The code is released as open source, and it is extensible for customized integrations with other services (e.g. fax server). Support is available from the community through the Zarafa Community Forums and the Zarafa Community Hub.
