Keep yourself safe online by blocking your IP address
By Anelly | Tue, Jun 3 2008 | 08:06:56

Keeping yourself safe in the real world is preached to us from the second we are born. “No, Baby! Don’t touch the stove! It’s hot!” and “Look both ways before you cross the street.” We know how to keep ourselves safe not that we are grown up, and in general, can take well care of ourselves. Then we hop online and forget all of that. We talk to strangers and give them access to personal information, some of it willingly, but a lot of it gets passed on without us knowing.

How can someone find out exactly where we live? By looking at someone’s IP address. An IP address will tell a hacker or internet marketer that sneakily got your IP, whet

How Much was Your Check from MySpace or Facebook Last Month?
By Erika | Thu, May 29 2008 | 11:05:34
Did you know that MySpace did over $70 MILLION in advertising sales in March of 2008! Did they share any of that money with you? I know I didn't get a check! There is new Social Network that works just like MySpace but they are paying their members 80% of the advertising revenue just for referring your friends and business contacts! And the best part is it's 100% FREE!

Facebook does roughly $30 Million dollars in advertising revenues on a monthly basis. They earn this money because currently there are more than 70 million users on facebook that login to their accounts. This generates a alot of website traffic. So major corporate advertisers like Chevrolet, Verizon, Coke and so on know that if they put ads up on facebook they are going to be seen by millions of people. So they

Court Ruling Starts the Process of Ruling Out Offensive Content.
By Jordan Hudgens | Sun, Apr 27 2008 | 09:04:25

Two recent court rulings have started the long awaited strike on offensive and damaging user submitted content in regard to online communities. The legal decisions have left online social networking websites vulnerable to future attacks from licensed content providers as it relates to the user submission medium, forcing both ISP’s and websites to a level of increased accountability.

News.com reported on April 8th, “For more than a decade, Web site operators have enjoyed a broad legal shield against lawsuits filed over material posted by their users, which has let user-driven sites like YouTube and MySpace.com flourish.  But a pair of recent rulings by federal district judges has chipped away at that protective shield. If those decisions are upheld on appeal, and

What Does it Mean to be a Designer for today's Wide World of the Web?
By James Stanger, Ph.D | Sat, Mar 8 2008 | 11:03:19

This past July, I found myself in Richmond, Virgina, conducting a focus group for a group of Web technology instructors. They were from the state, and had been teaching XHTML, blogging, and e-commerce for the Certified Internet Web Professional (CIW) Web design program for about two years. We had just finished up the second day of the group, and the session had been quite a bit of fun. We had shared ideas not only about how to do Web design, but also how to teach it to students in an entertaining way.

As I was getting ready to leave, Lee Baber, a secondary education instructor from Virginia, took the opportunity to introduce me to one of her students. This student had shown some real promise as a Web designer, and Lee wanted me to take a look at some of the sites he had created.

Oh my, the Social Networking industry issue and its effects
By Brett | Tue, Dec 4 2007 | 12:12:42

There is never a dull moment when it comes to the acceptance and use of anything collaborative on the internet these days. As soon as you make it available, they will come. It is the nature of all things that we must look and see if the resource being made available is of consequence and use to us, thus spanning a meticulous need and adoption of it. It is this concept that has spawn a whole new realm of internet users and availability for the new generation in the form of social networks. Social networks have become the internet’s collaboration and communications barriers breaker. No longer are we limited to reaching people in places we know and some places we never even knew existed through the wonderful World Wide Web.

What is really going on with the social networ

The Quantifiable Lead – Bridging the Gap Between Marketing and Sales
By Tina | Wed, Nov 7 2007 | 02:11:58
There is a disconnect between marketing and sales departments. I have seen this over and over again. Marketing has a hard time knowing when their efforts have attracted sales leads, and marketing results do not always get back to the appropriate sales hands. This means lost opportunities…and lost revenue.

As Sales and Marketing Director for VisiStat, I am very familiar with this common – and repairable – issue. I spend much of my days counseling clients on how they can not only get their two departments connected, but also improve the return on their efforts like never before.

I love my job. There is nothing more satisfying than when I see the light bulb go on when people "get it" and see a clear picture of their sales and marketing efforts. Good, real-time mark

Podcasting – technology that can kill radio?
By Marina McCartney | Fri, Jul 20 2007 | 06:07:00

Podcasting is a new format for distributing audio and video content over the Internet. From the technical viewpoint, podcasting involves nothing new – it's just embedding of multimedia-content (audio or video) into an RSS feed.

It is not difficult to create a podcast. There are both specialized web services and desktop applications for the task. Structurally, a podcast is an RSS file that contains links to enclosure files. Apple has developed iTunes – an RSS extension for use with podcasts. iTunes significantly improves upon the capabilities of RSS by providing additional fields (such as keywords, duration etc.) for use in describing enclosures.

The most popular way of getting audio files for podcasting is to record them from the
